Biography Stephan McCurley is one of the most promising young race car drivers on the circuit today. This rising athlete is a bright and very determined individual with unlimited potential and a passion for racing. Stephan's talent behind the wheel comes from racing since he was 7 years old; beginning in karts, then the Allison Legacy Series, Pro Late Models and Super Late Models. He has won several track championships, regional and state championships. In 2008, Stephan ran the ASA Southeast Asphalt Series in his own late model. He finished 2nd in the overall final points championship in the series inaugural season, and this was also Stephan's first year in a late model touring series. He also won the Blue Ridge regional championship in points and finished 2nd in the Carolina Clash regional championship points, all for the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour. This was especially impressive since he was competing against well- funded teams, and it was just him and his dad as crew for the car. In 2009 Stephan is racing a limited schedule in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. At his ARCA debut in Daytona in February, Stephan was one of the most popular drivers with the fans and enjoyed meeting, taking photos and signing autographs for a long line of folks young and old eager to meet him. ( See our photo gallery). He went on to race at tracks such as Talledega, Rockingham, Pocono and Michigan with solid finishes which brought him to a top 12 in ARCA driver points. Stephan also put on a show out-running top veterans and well funded rookies with a 7th place ARCA finish at Mansfield Speedway in June. He returned to ARCA in September to run Salem Speedway in Indiana. After months off from driving this car, and no testing, he qualified 12th and finished 6th on the Salem highbanks. He is definitely making his presence known this season in the ARCA ranks. Because of his driving abilities, maturity and experience, Stephan has been approved by NASCAR to drive on short and intermediate tracks for the Camping World Truck Series and the Nationwide Series. Stephan is currently working on opportunities for NASCAR. Stephan is also popular with media, race officials and other competitors – he is known for his uncanny knowledge of the race car and good sportsmanship. He is very focused on his racing, and comes from a close-knit racing family.
Stephan is very involved with the preparation of his race cars. He also assists with the design and building of the cars, shocks and set-ups. This is a great attribute in a driver, giving him the ability to better communicate with his team and crew chief, which shows in his race results. Stephan is focused on succeeding in this sport. He is a proven winner, a proven champion and has a very bright future. Click Here to read Articles on Stephan McCurley and his racing. |
